Courage has become the new currency of success today. And for me, it always starts with being bold.
In our lives, we all face fear in different situations. Fear shows up when outcomes are uncertain and when the path ahead is unclear. As someone once said, fear is a reaction, but courage is a decision.
Five and a half years ago, when I started my entrepreneurial journey, fear was very real. The world was coming out of Covid. The market was changing. Ed-tech was growing fast, but there was still uncertainty underneath it. I took the risk without knowing how things would turn out.
A year later, when ed-tech started slowing down and I was close to shutting down, I took another bold step and started an offline center. The fear did not disappear. But action helped me move forward. That is when I realized something important. Courage does not arrive first. It starts building only after you take action.
This was not the first time. Over the last 8.5 years, my life has been full of bold decisions. Leaving a corporate job to join an education startup. Taking leadership roles early. Starting something of my own. Some decisions worked well. Some came with consequences. But every single one of them slowly built courage.
Over time, you become less afraid.
I also learned that courage is not only about taking big risks. It is also about owning your mistakes. Accepting when you are wrong. Having the courage to face uncomfortable conversations and resolve things with maturity and respect. That takes just as much strength.
This is not something that can be taught in a classroom. Courage is built by stepping outside comfort zones, trying new paths and being willing to fail or succeed. Either way, your confidence grows.
There are many examples of this in the real world. Some companies invest years in ideas where the market does not even exist yet. They move forward with belief, patience and conviction. For a long time, results may not show. But when the world catches up, those bold decisions change everything.
So if you are struggling to make bold decisions, start by accepting the fear. There is nothing wrong with being scared. We are all human. But courage grows when you choose action over comfort and responsibility over avoidance.
Courage is not born. It is built.
